A long stretch over the Gulf of Finland to Helsinki.

Leaving Kuressaare northwards we overflew some more islands before turning east to follow the Estonian coastline. We could see Tallin on the horizon before we turned north again to overfly the Gulf of Finland. It was quite a long stretch over water and the weather over Helsinki was reported to be cloudy with some heavy rain. Since ceiling and visibility was however well within our limits and due to the fact we have an excellent system on board showing us real-time weather data, we continued to Helsinki-Malmi. The last part of our flight we had to fly very low due to the airspace structure around Helsinki, offering us a beautiful view of the city and it’s port. Malmi itself is a superb airport for small planes and very close to the city center of Helsinki, which we explored the rest of the day. Since the weather was reported to be rainy the next day we already planned in advance to travel from Helsinki to Tallin by boat on our 6th day of the journey. Tallin is a small, old town with lots of beautiful churches and a history dating far back - unfortunately, however, Tallin is overcrowded by tourists (like us). Although it was raining in Helsinki we were lucky and enjoyed a sunny day in Tallin before heading back to Helsinki by boat in the afternoon.
