Up to the Baltic coast with my parents, via a cloudy Kassel.
We departed Landshut (EDML) with my parents on an IFR flight plan with a short stopover in Kassel (EDVK) to Kiel (EDHK). Kassel airport offered a quick fueling stop and an IFR approach, which was not utterly necessary however helpful with the cloudy weather. The onward flight to Kiel took us over Hamburg city towards the Baltic Sea and on our approach, we were able to overfly Kiel city with its bay offering a good view of the big cruising ships on there way to Kiel’s harbor. After landing and fueling we took a cab into the city center and enjoyed two days of Kiel and it’s surroundings. On our way back south we departed early in the morning with a sunny sky and flew along the Kiel Ship Canal before turning south towards Erfurt (EDDE). The airport of Erfurt offers efficient service while also being an excellent starting point to explore the city itself. Since we had some time we decided to take the tram departing just in front of the airport to downtown Erfurt to explore the city with its historic buildings. After this short excursion around the city, we had lunch before flying back to Landshut.
